Clarisonic - Sonic Skin Cleansing System

Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing System

I’ve been using the Clarisonic Plus for about two months now and I love it! I have seen a noticeable difference in my skins texture, as it is smoother and feel cleaner than when I wash the traditional way. All makeup is completely gone and I’ve noticed less breakouts. Below is some information from their website
www.clarisonic.com:

Clarisonic developed the sonic technology proven to gently yet effectively loosen dirt and oil to clear your pores. The Sonic Skin Cleansing System uses a patented sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to clean, soften and smooth your skin. In just 60 seconds a day, the micro-massage action cleans more than twice as effectively as manual cleansing.

Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Benefits

  • Removes 6x more makeup than manual cleansing
  • Leaves skin feeling and looking smoother
  • Cleanses so well that products absorb better
  • Gentle enough for twice daily use
  • Helps reduce oily areas, dry skin patches, and blemishes
  • Helps reduce the appearance of visible pores

The Clarisonic Plus is on the expensive side ($225) but very much worth it!

New In My Kit & Makeup Tips

I am going to admit it to myself that I am addicted to makeup. I'm always trying new products, going to cosmetic stores and counters to get the "feel" of the newest things. Honestly, some of those "next best things" aren't always the best and then there are some that blow my mind when they actually live up to the hype. So, the first thing I do is test it on myself before putting it in my kit. Everyone is different and have different skin care concerns. Personally, I have cystic acne so I always do the test on me first to make sure these products work as they say they will do and to also determine if I will have a breakout or reaction to the product. You never know the reaction that anyone could have to a new product so I always want to at least try it out on myself first. I also do not just use one brand; I like brands all over the globe, some that are not expensive and some that comes with a hefty price tag. Do not think just because a product is expensive, it is going to work the best and on the other hand, sometimes you get what you pay for. That's why it is good to test and play with different products and brands.

Some of the newest products that I've recently purchased and I am in love with...

1. Skindinavia Original Finishing Spray - This item is great for making your makeup last all day as it cools the temperature of the skin allowing longer wear of makeup. You will notice fewer required touchups throughout the day, if any at all. I heard of this brand a long time ago and I'm kicking myself that I didn't purchase it sooner.

2. VanityMark Shimmerskin & Summerskin Spray by Brett Freedman - AMAZING products! The Summerskin gives a nice warm glow to the skin and the Shimmerskin instantly glistens. The best thing, they are transfer resistant and won't come off until you take it off!

3. Smashbox Halo Hydrating Powder - I've actually purchased this product when it first hit the shelves and I'm putting this on my new list because every time I use it, I find a new benefit of the product. My favorite reason for loving this product is because skincare is built right it. It continuously hydrates the skin throughout the day, great anti-aging benefits, it doesn't accentuate fine lines and wrinkles like most powders, and it gives a radiant finish to the skin. It comes in Fair, Light, Medium and Dark shades. This is a really great product!

Tips:

Always skincare first, then makeup!!! No matter how great a product is, your makeup won't be to the fullest potential if you don't take care of your skin. Yeah sure, concealer can remove dark circles and foundation can even out the skintone; however, makeup cannot rid of pimples and bumps or permanently remove acne marks and hyper pigmentation. Always cleanse your face twice a day and never sleep with makeup on, no matter how tired you are or what fun night you had. Use a toner, especially if have oily skin. Toner will help remove any additional oils deep down in the skin and remove residue that cleansers tend to leave behind. And such an important step that so many people skip...you must moisturize, even if you have oily skin. It is imperative that you moisturize and use a moisturizer that caters to your skin type (oily, dry, sensitive, etc.) Treat yourself to a facial every two months and you will see the difference in your skins texture and clarity. Some salons charge between $50 - $150 for basic and deep pore cleansing facials. This to me, is a small price to pay for beautiful skin and plus everyone deserve to treat themselves sometimes. Remember, every skincare issue can be controlled.

Always purchase the travel size of a makeup product you want to buy first or ask for a sample of the product before making that big purchase. Trust me, there have been several times that I have bought every color of something and it didn't work out or didn't like. I've ended up giving the makeup to my little nieces so they can play with it; and lets be honest, makeup is too expensive for that!

The best tip I think I can give anyone is - a little bit goes a long way!

Until soon....thanks for reading!

Unfavorable Odds - Kim Hamilton Anthony

A couple of years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting a beautiful woman by the name of Kim Hamilton Anthony. Our original meeting was for a makeup lesson; she needed to know how to apply the works: foundation, blending eye shadows, blush, etc. (She did a really good job!) She informed me that she is a TV Anchor and perform interviews with athletes and is also the TV host for the Miami Dade TV, County Connection. I gave her recommendations on what products to use, especially for the “new” digital age we are living in today. Based on her demeanor, I immediately thought that Kim was super sweet, extremely beautiful, and very humble. Kim contacted me again and advised that she was in the process of writing a book about her life and she needed a photographer and makeup artist for the cover. We had a meeting and she started explaining the details of her life story and I must admit, I was immediately shocked. She explained her challenges in her childhood being surrounded by drugs and violence in a low-income, urban community. Again, based on her positive spirit, I never would have guessed she’d struggled with so many things growing up. Her story further amazed me when I found out her struggles of being a 5’7” African American gymnast (most gymnast are 5’-5’2”). She practiced on the SIDEWALKS of her neighborhood and through this hard work, she became a world-class gymnast on the US National Team and made history becoming the first African-American female to be recruited and received a scholarship to compete on UCLA’s gymnastic team. Furthermore, she became a six-time All American and four-time National Champion. Through all of her success, she was inducted into UCLA’s Hall of Fame in 2000.

Kim shares her story of all of her challenges including self-esteem which many of us, children, teens, and adults, go through. Her story is very eye-opening and very much uplifting to show everyone, based on her words, “you can escape the cycle of hopelessness.” Her book reveals keys she used to overcome obstacles that anyone can apply to his or her own life.

Kim Hamilton Anthony’s novel “Unfavorable Odds” can be purchased online and in major book stores everywhere. This is a must read for all! www.unfavorableodds.com

Help for Haiti

With the devastation of earthquakes in Haiti still shakes us in disbelief, many in South Florida and around the world have been trying their best to help out in any way possible. I am very pleased with businesses, non-profit organizations, governments, celebrities, co-workers, family and friends, and even children, and everyone around the world coming together and trying to raise money and aide to help those affected in Haiti. Another way that my peers and I were able to help was by participating in a benefit through 944 Magazine. The wonderful minds of 944 Magazine came up with a brilliant idea to auction art and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to help those in need in Haiti. WOW!!! My favorite photographer, Natasha Kertes, jumped on board to help. She donated a beautiful piece of artwork, one that I had the privilege to be apart of; we called it the 24 karat gold statue. The photo is of a beautiful model by the name of Nathalie, but we all call her Tco. This shoot took hours to create and transform this Haitian beauty into 24 karat gold.

I am very honored to share that the photo was auctioned!!! We don't know how much but we are all grateful and happy of the continued efforts of so many. Thank you 944 Magazine, Natasha Kertes, Tco, and a BIG thank you to the special person who purchased this photo. Thank you!
